I have designed and implemented a network for IP LAN connectivity, surveillance and security, complete with extensive WLAN coverage, NAS storage, load balancing, and bandwidth control. The primary internet connection is through a 4G broadband modem, with a backup connection via the phone line.

The backup is seamlessly achieved with a load balancing router, so when the 4G modem fails or we (mostly one of my sisters… you know who you are) exceed the data limit, the internet traffic is routed through the (painfully slow) landline. It’s rural Ireland after all!
